D-O-G Intensive Course

20 Days in Salon Training and 11 Days Home Study Material.

Designed for students who are looking to start a career within the dog grooming industry, but do not wish to do the course awarded with any qualifications.

  • No previous dog grooming experience is required to enter onto this course
  • You will groom approximately 40 dogs during this course
  • 1:2 teacher to student ratio
  • There are no exams at the end of this course

  • You will receive the same level of teaching in terms of practical skills as our City & Guilds students completing the combined City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 course. You will have access to our on-line learning, you will be provided with the course books and will also have a chance to build up your grooming portfolio

  • Course can be completed on either part-time or full time bases. You can do as little as 1 day per week or 6 days
  • No strict starting dates; our courses are run all year round
  • A D-O-G Grooming Studio Certificate of attendance will be awarded at the completion of the course
  • Payment plan option available

Course Length: 
20 days hand on salon training grooming 2 dogs each day

Aim:

  • You will learn preparation of dog’s coat including bathing, drying, de-matting and brushing ready for styling

  • You will have a chance to style and finish to a high standard a large variety of breeds of dogs

  • You will learn all different coat types and will be confident to deliver styling as requested by pet owners

  • You will learn different grooming techniques including hand stripping, clipping and scissoring

  • You will be encouraged to make your own decisions in assessing the dog and the work that is required which will include the tools and skills used to complete the style required/requested

  • You will learn how to handle a dog in a dog grooming environment

  • You will learn how to clean and maintain equipment used for grooming

  • We will also cover the following theory modules: Health and Safety within the salon, Handling Animals, Business Management and Health Checking

  • There are no practical or theory exams at the end of the course
