The City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants is the established entry point into the dog grooming profession, and a nationally recognised qualification that carries genuine credibility in the industry. At D-O-G Grooming Studio you will be taught by an award-winning team of fully qualified City & Guilds teachers, led by a Master Groomer who is one of only 19 in the UK.
No previous experience is needed. The City & Guilds Level 2 can be taken as a standalone qualification, or as the first step towards the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.
What can you expect?

Designed for students who wish to become Dog Grooming Assistants, it will also enable you to learn different basic styling techniques.
- No previous dog grooming experience is required to enter onto this course
- You will groom approximately 18 dogs during this course
- 1:2 teacher to student ratio
- Course can be completed on either part-time or full time bases. You can do as little as 1 day per week or 6 days
- No strict starting dates; our courses are run all year round
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to enrol to the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03) qualification

Course Length:
10 days hands on salon training grooming 2 dogs each day, plus 5 days on-line material provided for study at home. Total course length 15 days
Aim:
- You will reach full competence in preparation of a coat ready for styling including bathing, brushing, de-matting and drying of a dog’s coat
- You will learn all different coat types and will be confident to deliver styling as requested by pet owners
- You will learn how to control and restrain animals and how to handle and lift dogs correctly
- You will learn how to maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment
- You will learn how to clean and maintain equipment used for grooming
- Basic Canine First Aid training is included in this course

We provide the City & Guilds Level 2 dog grooming assistant course at both of our studio salons in London:
- Wandsworth Common: 204 Trinity Road, SW17 7HP, London
- Wimbledon Park: 130 Arthur Road, SW19 8AA, London
All teachers are the same at both location and rotate between the two schools.

Across 10 days of hands-on salon training you will groom approximately 18 dogs, developing the core practical skills and confidence expected of a professional dog grooming assistant. We will help you build your grooming portfolio throughout the course and after course mentoring is available once you have completed your training. Payment plan and pay as you go options are available, with two London locations and flexible scheduling to suit you.
