City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Combined Course

29 Days in Salon Training and 13 Days Home Study Combined City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02) and City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03)

Designed for students who wish to become Professional Dog Grooming Stylists and get awarded with both City & Guilds qualifications. 

This is a combined course allowing you to complete both levels at the same time. As part of the City & Guilds qualifications, certificates on Handling Animals and Business set up and management are awarded. 

  • No previous dog grooming experience is required to enter onto this course
  • You will groom approximately 58 dogs during this course
  • 1:2 teacher to student ratio
  • Course can be completed on either part-time or full time bases. You can do as little as 1 day per week or 6 days
  • No strict starting dates; our courses are run all year round
  • Upon successful completion of required practical, synoptic assignment and theory exam, both qualifications will be awarded

Course Length: 
29 days hands on salon training  grooming 2 dogs each day, plus 13 days on-line material provided for study at home. Total Course Length: 42 Days

Aim:

  • You will become fully skilled in the preparation of various different types of coats ready for styling including bathing, brushing, de-matting and drying of dog's coat

  • You will learn different grooming techniques including hand stripping, clipping and scissoring

  • You will learn how to control and restrain animals and how to handle and lift dogs correctly

  • You will learn how to maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment and how to clean and maintain equipment

  • You will have a chance to style and finish to a high standard a large variety of breeds of dogs

  • You will learn how to conduct Health Checking and Dog Handling within the salon

  • You will learn about Health and Safety, legislation and code of practice for the dog grooming industry

  • You will learn good customer service and record keeping to be able to run a successful dog grooming business

  • You will be encouraged to make your own decisions in assessing the dog and the work that is required which will include the tools and skills used to complete the style required/requested

  • First Aid Course included with OFQUAL certificate
