The City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming is one of the most widely recognised qualifications in the industry, a credential that carries real weight with employers and clients.

What is involved?

23 Days in Salon Training (Wimbledon Park or Wandsworth Common) and 8 Days Home Study City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03).

The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants qualification (7763-02) is a pre-requisite for this course. 

  • City & Guilds Level 2 is a pre-requisite to enter onto Level 3
  • You will groom approximately 45 dogs during this course
  • 1:2 teacher to student ratio
  • Course can be completed on either part-time or full time bases. You can do as little as 1 day per week or 6 days
  • No strict starting dates; our courses are run all year round
  • Upon successful completion of the required synoptic assignment and theory exam, the above qualification will be awarded

Course Length:

23 days hands on salon training  grooming 2 dogs each day, plus 8 days on-line material provided for study at home. Total course length 31 days.

Aim:

  • You will become fully skilled in the preparation of various different types of coats ready for styling
  • You will learn different grooming techniques including hand stripping, clipping and scissoring
  • You will have the chance to style and finish to a high standard a large variety of breeds of dogs
  • You will learn how to conduct Health Checking and Dog Handling within the salon
  • You will learn about Health and Safety legislation and the code of practice for the dog grooming industry
  • You will learn good customer service and record keeping to be able to run a successful dog grooming business
  • You will be encouraged to make your own decisions in assessing the dog and the work that is required, which will include the tools and skills used to complete the style required/requested
  • Basic Canine First Aid training is included in this course

Course Locations:
You can secure your place onto the City and Guilds Level 3 dog grooming course to receive your official diploma by completing your salon training at either of our locations:

- Wandsworth Common: 204 Trinity Road, SW17 7HP, London
- Wimbledon Park: 130 Arthur Road, SW19 8AA, London

All teachers are the same at both location and rotate between the two schools.

Throughout the course we'll help you build your own grooming portfolio, practical evidence of your work that you can take into employment or use when starting your own business. We also offer after course mentoring, so our team remains available for advice and support once you've completed your training. With two London salon locations, no fixed start dates and both payment plan and pay as you go options available, getting started is straightforward.
