Professional dog grooming training in Wimbledon

Our Wimbledon dog grooming school is at 130 Arthur Road, on the road running down from Wimbledon Park station towards Wimbledon town centre, with the park and lake alongside. It's a fully equipped working salon with dogs booked in by local owners, so you'll be handling real coats from your first morning rather than practising on models.

Six courses run at Wimbledon Park, from a half day taster through to the combined City & Guilds Level 2 and 3. Teaching at D-O-G Grooming Studio is led by our Head Teacher, a Master Groomer and one of only 19 in the UK, and teachers rotate between here and our Wandsworth Common school, so you'll get the same standard of training at either.

Why students choose our Wimbledon dog grooming school

  • Arthur Road location with Wimbledon Park station close by, and Wimbledon interchange a few minutes further for National Rail, District line and Tramlink services
  • Two dogs a day per student on a live client book, giving you the breed and coat range a portfolio needs
  • 1:2 teacher to student ratio across all qualification courses
  • Anything from one to six training days a week, Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 17:00, with places opening throughout the year rather than in fixed intakes

Dog grooming courses at our Wimbledon training school for aspiring dog groomers

City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Combined
Both qualifications, 7863-02 and 7863-03, taken as one programme with no prior experience needed. 29 salon days at Arthur Road plus 13 days of online study, working through roughly 55 dogs.

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate
Qualifies you to work as a grooming assistant, taking coat preparation to full competence across bathing, brushing, de-matting and drying. 15 days in total, 10 of them in the salon.

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma
The stylist qualification, adding hand stripping, clipping, scissoring, health checking and the commercial side of salon work. 20 salon days plus 8 at home, with roughly 45 dogs. You'll need Level 2 first.

iPET Network Level 3 Diploma
Assessed continuously through three practical assessments with no theory exam, and open to enrol without Level 2. 20 salon days, around 40 dogs. Worth considering if you are already grooming but haven't got the qualification to show for it.

D-O-G Intensive Course
Covers the practical ground of the combined City & Guilds route in 20 salon days and 11 at home, finishing with a studio certificate of attendance rather than an awarding body qualification.

Half Day Taster Course
Half a day in the salon grooming a dog with a teacher beside you, so you can see what the work involves before booking onto a full course.

Basic Canine First Aid, portfolio support and after-course mentoring come as standard on every course. Payment plans and pay as you go apply across the qualification courses.

Getting to our Wimbledon Park school

Wimbledon Park
130 Arthur Rd, Wimbledon Park, London SW19 8AA
020 4559 9078

Wimbledon Park is the nearest station, on the District line, with Southfields one stop north and Wimbledon one stop south. Wimbledon itself brings in National Rail services from Waterloo, Tramlink from Croydon and further District line connections, which is why the Wimbledon school tends to suit students travelling any distance.

Students train with us here from across SW19, SW20 and SW18, including Wimbledon Village, Southfields, Raynes Park, Merton Park and Colliers Wood, and from further out along the Waterloo and Sutton lines through Morden, New Malden, Kingston, Sutton and Epsom. If Wandsworth is the easier journey, the same six courses run at our Wandsworth Common training school at 204 Trinity Rd, SW17 7HP.

Book onto a dog grooming course in Wimbledon

Call the Wimbledon school on 020 4559 9078 or send the enquiry form with the month you'd like to start and the number of days a week you can train, and we'll come back with what's available at Arthur Road. If you haven't settled on a course yet, tell us roughly where you are now, whether that's no experience at all or a few years in a salon without a qualification and the team will point you at the right one.
